Levelflex FMP52: Guided Wave Radar for Aggressive Liquids

Chemically resistant PFA-coated probes for reliable level and interface measurement.

Endress+Hauser Levelflex FMP52 guided wave radar

The Endress+Hauser Levelflex FMP52 is a guided wave radar transmitter developed for aggressive liquids. Its chemically resistant, gap-free PFA-coated probe helps protect wetted parts while supporting reliable continuous level and interface measurement in liquids, pastes and slurries.

Why FMP52 Is Different

Many corrosive or high-purity applications require more than a standard metallic probe. The FMP52 uses FDA-listed wetted materials and offers hygienic process connections, making it suitable for evaluating applications in chemical processing, life sciences, food production and other industries where material compatibility and cleanability matter.

Guided wave radar sends microwave pulses along the probe. The product surface reflects part of the signal, and the transmitter converts the travel time into a level value. Measurement is not affected by changing media, temperature changes, gas blankets or vapors.

FMP52 Technical Data at a Glance

Measurement principleGuided wave radar
Probe versionsPFA-coated rod or rope probe
AccuracyUp to ±2 mm
Process temperature-50 to +200 °C
Process pressureVacuum / -1 to +40 bar
Maximum measuring rangeRod 4 m; rope up to 45 m

Typical Applications

  • Storage tanks containing corrosive chemicals

  • High-purity or hygienic liquid processes

  • Liquids with vapors or gas blankets

  • Level and interface measurement in suitable two-liquid applications

  • Vessels with moving surfaces or changing product conditions

The FMP52 can be supplied with flange connections or hygienic connections such as Tri-Clamp and DIN 11851. Depending on the selected configuration, international explosion protection, SIL, overfill prevention, hygienic and marine approvals are available.

Rod or Rope Probe?

Rod probes are suited to shorter measuring ranges and compact vessels. Rope probes extend the measuring distance for taller tanks. Selection should consider vessel height, dielectric constant, nozzle geometry, agitation, tank internals and the chemical compatibility of every wetted material.

Installation and Commissioning

The probe should be installed with adequate clearance from the vessel wall, agitators and internal equipment. Confirm probe length, empty and full calibration, mounting position, process connection and actual temperature and pressure. HistoROM data management, Multi-Echo Tracking and Heartbeat Technology support commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance.

Complete Order Codes Matter

“FMP52” identifies only the product family. An accurate quotation or replacement requires the complete order code because probe type, length, coating, process connection, electronics and approvals vary. A typical enquiry may look like:
