Endress+Hauser Prosonic FMU30
Compact Ultrasonic Level Measurement for Liquids and Bulk Solids
For routine level monitoring, a compact non-contact instrument can simplify the measuring arrangement while keeping the sensor out of the product. The Prosonic FMU30 uses ultrasonic measurement and offers two sensor sizes to match different measuring distances.
CHOOSE THE SENSOR SIZE TO MATCH THE APPLICATION
The 1½-inch version provides maximum measuring distances of 5 m for liquids and 2 m for bulk solids. The 2-inch version extends these distances to 8 m for liquids and 3.5 m for bulk solids. These are maximum values: the usable range must be assessed against the medium, surface conditions and installation.
KEY TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS
• 1½-inch sensor: liquids up to 5 m; bulk solids up to 2 m
• 2-inch sensor: liquids up to 8 m; bulk solids up to 3.5 m
• Process temperature: -20 to +60 °C
• Process pressure: 0.7 to 3 bar absolute
• Accuracy: ±3 mm or ±0.2% of the set measuring range
CLEAR INFORMATION AT THE MEASURING POINT
The four-line plain-text display presents warning and alarm messages to support troubleshooting. When selecting a replacement, confirm the complete order code and the electrical configuration rather than relying on the FMU30 series name alone.
INSTALLATION CHECKS BEFORE ORDERING
Start with the required distance from the sensor face to the lowest product surface. Review the process connection, mounting position and nozzle dimensions, and keep the highest expected level outside the blocking distance specified for the selected sensor. A clear measuring path helps avoid unwanted echoes from vessel internals or filling streams.
Foam, turbulence, dust and vapour can affect ultrasonic measurement. For solids, consider changes in the surface profile during filling and discharge. Assess the instrument against actual operating conditions and the required performance, including compatibility with the medium.
PREPARING AN FMU30 ENQUIRY
For replacement enquiries, send the existing nameplate photo and full order code. For a new installation, provide the medium, measuring range, vessel dimensions, process temperature, pressure, connection, output requirements, approvals and quantity. These details help identify a suitable configuration before ordering.
