Commissioning should include sensor stabilization, zero and span calibration, alarm checks, fault-current verification and confirmation of the 4-20 mA indication at the control system. A functional gas test helps confirm that gas reaches the sensor and that the complete alarm path responds. Calibration and test frequency should follow Honeywell instructions, applicable regulations and site experience rather than a universal calendar interval.
For catalytic sensors, maintenance records should note exposure to high gas concentrations, suspected poisons, failed response tests and sensor replacement history. A detector that has been exposed to a known inhibitor should be tested before being returned to safety service.
